Historically, the branding of science and engineering has not been high on a scientific organization’s priority list, especially the branding of complex science. But Verus Research leadership understands that times have changed and the importance of branding is essential to their plan for an upward trajectory of business. That’s because a powerful brand means attracting better talent, rising above the competition and making the shortlist for better projects. So, they hired K2MD Brand Builders. Smart!

challenge.

The company was originally known as XL Scientific. So our first challenge was to create a more credible brand name. K2MD generated more than fifty prospective names. From our shortlist of recommendations “Verus Research” was chosen. Verus was derived from the latin word for truth–veritas, which is what the company seeks to deliver in every project. We then developed the logo using spheres and linear elements to imply molecular structure, scientific modeling and the universe.

From the newly created brand identity, we defined the brand aesthetic and anchored the program in a recognizable teal color. From the corporate website to business collateral and trade show graphics, the unified appearance of the new brand was deployed internally and externally. Additionally we branded the firms various locations with signage, environmental graphics and posters that communicated the expertise of Verus Research.
